There are several possible reasons why the electric entry step may not extend or retract. Here is a step-by-step guide for solving the problem.
1. Check the electrical supply
- Do the body batteries have sufficient voltage? Please check the charge status of the batteries.
- If the vehicle is connected to external power, check that all plugs are properly connected and that this is indicated on the central control panel.
- Is the button module on the entry step defective? Check whether the button module is working. If necessary, only the button module is defective.
2. Checking the fuses
- Is a fuse in the relay box lighted? If so, it is defective and must be replaced. Fuse 18 (counting from the left, including empty slots) is for the entry step. If necessary, check whether it is correctly seated or damaged.
- Check whether the fuse in the load module box is defective. Fuse 22 is for controlling the entry step.
- Check whether the fuses in control block 2 are defective. Relays R2 and R4 are for controlling the motor of the entry step. Check the corresponding fuses one to six.
More detailed information on where the fuses are located can also be found in the owner’s manual.
3. Operate the entry step manually
If the entry step cannot be extended or retracted electrically, it can be operated manually. To do this, the shaft must be disconnected from the drive and the step pushed in or pulled out by hand. Please still consult a service partner.
More detailed information on emergency operation can also be found in the owner’s manual.
